Proposed by the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Redemptorists)

Vouga Hospital, Angola

In the early 60s in Bie, Angola, the Vouga Hospital was the seed of a few good willed men which germinated and produced a reference clinical centre nationwide. However, the Civil War brought total destruction to this magnificent work of the Redemptorist missionaries in Angola.

Today, that the war is finished, it is an imperial task to rebuild this hospital, in a movement that wants to move forward with solidarity, voluntary and cooperation. All of those who feel inside the call for helping the sick and those in need are welcome.

Humanitarian Aid in Haiti

Coordinated by the Roman Curia of the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer, all provinces of the Redemptorist congregation in the world have collaborated to support the earthquake in Haiti as did the Congregation in Brazil, specially the provinces located in Curitiba and Paranaguá, in Paraná, and Campo Grande in Mato Grosso do Sul. In Paranaguá is located the Shrine of Our Lady of Rocio (Nossa Senhora do Rocio). The other two are of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Nossa Senhora do Perpétuo Socorro).
The other parishes are in Guaratuba, Telêmaco, Borba, and two in Londrina, Paraná. The effort is great but the need is greater to rebuild the destroyed facilities.

After War Intervention on Ivory Coast

The population still suffers the effects of a recent civil war, and the future looks uncertain, but they continue to struggle. There are no abandoned children, they always find some arms that fit around their little body and who are willing to bear their weight.

Our aim was to understand the reality and the projects that were carried out thanks to the cooperation of everyone involved (two health centres, student residences, a library, a centre of social promotion ...). In parallel, we must identify the needs to develop new projects that are likely to foster the development of their lives. We finally found a 'new' fundamental need, which conveys our own experience, so that everyone from now on can feel closer to who's away, God will do the rest... Then they feel they are not alone and that they can continue to live in hope of building a better world.

Children's Canteen in Perú

Father José Gomes, pastor of Lima, send us some information about a project that originated in AS Seville. This project includes the construction of a Children's Canteen.

It's amazing how, thanks to all those who collaborate with the Association of Solidarity, it was made possible these new projects so that we can reach to brothers who need our help. As always it gives us the courage to keep on working in improving the quality of life of others.

The “Renascer” Project - After war integration programmme

In the war context Angola suffered a major disruption of its social fabric, of government structures and institutions, of moral and civic values, and the deterioration of the family livelihood. With an increasing number of families living in the periphery of Luanda with less than a Dollar a day the attention and childcare are not a priority. On the other hand, Luanda has hosted a large number of IDP's (Internally Displaced Persons), including children, which ended upfinding on the streets their only possibility for survival.

In addition to these two factors, it's now beginning to emerge, andwith a rising trend, orphaned children, victims of AIDS. It is this environment that we want to intervene, in a way to give to these children some kind of hope.
